New Exhibition

Madertie’s Century – the life and times of our Founder David Lord Madertie, celebrating 400 years since his birth into one of Scotland’s most revolutionary centuries the 1600s.  We explore life in his times, his friendship with Montrose and part in the Covenanting War, his love of home and garden and the creation of Innerpeffray Library and School, through books from our collection.

 

Also discover

  • more about the King James Bible, on the 400th anniversary of first publication, and the impact of this new version in English.  Innerpeffray has a 1613 edition in a handsome leather binding with metal clasps.
  • Saint or Sinner – the changing public face of Mary Magdalen in Innerpeffray’s books.

Music and Tea

The perfect way to spend Sunday afternoon: The Library of Innerpeffray is delighted to announce the programme of Music and Tea for 2011.

 

Join us in the Library for an introduction to the afternoon’s performance, enjoy a sumptuous Afternoon Tea in the Schoolroom, rounded off with a concert in the excellent acoustic surroundings of Innerpeffray Chapel.

 

We have three Music and Tea events this year, with a wide selection of musical styles.  We are also delighted to offer a discount for anyone booking for all three events.

 

All Music and Tea Events start at 3.30pm in The Library.  Booking is essential as space is strictly limited.  Tickets cost £15 each, including entrance to the Library, afternoon tea and concert.

Sunday 22nd May

 

Edinburgh Mandolin and Guitar Orchestra, (EMGO) play a varied selection of European Classical music and Folk tunes.

 

 

Sunday 26 June

 

Elisabeth, Iain and MoragAnne play a diverse repertoire, incorporating Scottish traditional music alongside Renaissance and Baroque sounds, using a variety of stringed and woodwind instruments.

 

 

Sunday 4 September

 

Sheena Wellington, Scotland’s leading traditional singer, performs a selection of her favourite songs.

 

Music and Supper

Sat 23 July is ‘A Grand Night for Singing’ with Craig Dennis and Friends.

A summer evening treat for lovers of songs from Broadway and the West End. 

Champagne in the Library and a tapas supper crowned with a concert, what better way to help us raise funds for Scotland’s Oldest Free Public Lending Library?
